Project Overview
The Association of Village Council Presidents Regional Housing Authority (AVCP RHA) incorporated as a regional housing authority on October 17, 1974 to address the housing needs of the AVCP region. AVCP RHA serves all 48 communities in the Bethel and Kusilvak Census Areas.
The AVCP region is home to 56 federally recognized tribes. The region is in a remote and large geographical area approximately the size of the state of Illinois. The region and the villages are only accessible by air.
AVCP RHA has constructed over 1,700 single family units in all of the communities as well as rental property in 19 communities. AVCP RHA provides affordable housing opportunities and programs for the AVCP region including homeownership, rentals, rental vouchers, housing services, housing management, and crime prevention.
AVCP RHA is proud of its force account program in the construction of new houses/apartments, modernization of its current assisted stock, renovation, and weatherization of privately-owned homes. The force account crews are men and women from our region who are educated, trained, and have gained experience in our projects building high quality homes in their villages for their families, friends, and neighbors.
The Association of Village Council Presidents Regional Housing Authority is the Tribally Designated Housing Entity (TDHE) for 51 tribes under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA).
