Project Overview
Lake Chelan boasts many beautiful homes. Sometimes, one finds a gem in an older home and chooses to not only bring the home up to code but remodels is such a way that it improves the home's overall energy efficiency. Keeping the old residence size small, and remodeling the existing structure made more sense by using SIPs, a better, stronger, more efficient solution.
With Premier SIPS utilized for the roof and walls, this homeowner was able to achieve energy efficiency enough to take advantage of the existing structure's mechanical systems.
Premier SIPS made the framing process extremely efficient and allowed for fast construction on a remodel that wanted to double the footprint while taking advantage of the existing HVAC systems. The existing HVAC is not being used to condition a space twice the original size.
Other features include a covered porch along the south side of the building providing shade from the hot summer sun.
"It's too early to have a good utility bill record before the summer season. But it is anticipated that the all-electric residence will have an average electric bill of less than $40 a month. This is great when you consider the cold, snowy winter months and hot, dry summer months."
"Early indications are that the homeowners are very happy with the design, the quietness and the air-tight home that keeps the dust down."
