Project Overview
- CLT Wall panels (cross-laminated timber)
- CLT wall panels left exposed on the interior for a gorgeous wood aesthetic.
- No need for extra materials/labor for additional finishing.
- Energy consultant critical part of architectural & system design.
HERS Index: We did a full analysis and had an energy consultant do the design. The SIPS roof helped a lot. Requested received by the opening of the building.
Blower Door Test: Passed with ease. The building was so tight it blew out the blower door membrane a couple of times and the pressure still held. Report not received at the time the building was completed.
HVAC:
Two small gas-fired unit heaters, 121.83 MBH each were installed. Work was finished in August when it was 100 degrees outside. The unit heaters started up and then locked them out and forgot about it. In December the owner called and asked why he hadn’t gotten a gas bill yet – they'd forgotten to turn the system on. The whole space was heated with waste heat from the lights (and the people working out.). No AC. The builder thought that was risky – but in August before the doors and windows were in, in 100-degree heat the building was still comfortable for a construction crew working full speed. Even with 25 people doing CrossFit, they don’t have any cooling problems.
Start The Project Conversation
High-performance buildings start with better systems.
Premier SIPS deliver a building envelope that outperforms traditional framing in efficiency, strength, and long-term durability. If your project demands higher performance and greater predictability, let’s talk.
