The developer of this high quality business park opted for SIPS for the building shell to ensure the space delivered fully conditioned, low operating costs for the light industrial buildings.

 

The complex includes six 5,700 - 10,000 square-foot buildings in Rocklin, California (Sacramento). Buildings were built for sale/lease and offered flexible suite sizing. The exceptionally insulated building easily met California's Title 24 building codes, with its R60 roof panels and R40 wall panels - including roll up doors. 

 

Speed of construction was also a huge consideration, to get the buildings operational, occupied and generating revenue as quickly as possible. How did SIPs construction contribute to this? Large SIP panels were prefabricated in the factory, and joined together on the job site. On the first building, a framing crew who had never installed SIPs before, connected a section of wall panels on the ground, then lifted the entire section/side into place in less than 15 minutes. The perimeter of the building followed the speed until close in and the walls (including insulation, exterior and interior sheathing and WRB) of the 9,000 sf structure were framed in less than 3 days.
