End Use: Accessory Dwelling Unit, ADU over new Garage
Why SIPs: We did this project as a Design Build, the client was 100% in favor of using SIPs. We incorporated using SIP with the floor, exterior walls and roof.
Benefit of SIPs: Cost of construction here in northern California are through the roof. SIPs helped bring both the labor and material cost down and the speed of SIP construction reduced the overall burden on the project substantially.
Innovative Design: Design was not that innovative as the project is basically a square box. However our use in using one of the best SIP engineers in the US kept the structural cost to a minimum.
Other Energy-Saving Materials Used:
- Window, siding, doors, roof exceeded energy requirements by Cal Green
- Solar panels installed
