Project Overview
Audubon National Wildlife Refuge
Why SIPS: Wanted to use LEED products and Premier SIPS were just the choice
Design Features: This project was used as a model for efficiency in government buildings. It utilized solar energy, wind generation, and geothermal systems.
Certifications: LEED Gold Certification Standards
Other: Due to the age of the original building, it was found to have serious health and safety concerns which included asbestos, rodents, water leaks, and mold. It was clear it was time to update and replace the older structure. The main goal was to achieve functionality and sustainability. As part of this process, not only were Premier SIPS Selected for this build, Industrial Enterprises used 16,000 square feet of MBCI’s 24-gauge BattenLok® HS standing seam roof panel in Classic Green with a Signature® 300 finish. BattenLok® HS’s high-strength structural SSR system was selected. Both resolved serious health and safety problems which also earned LEED Gold Certification. To do this, the building had to meet a long list of standards for energy conservation, renewable energy production, water efficiency, the use of recycled materials, and indoor environmental quality and control.
