Why SIPs: Speed of construction, low energy costs for long term operational savings, and durability for multifamily application made SIPs the best choice.
Benefits of SIPs: SIPS are the only way we build now. We save time, build a stronger, safer, more comfortable structure, that has an incredible environmental impact with little jobsite waste, drastically reduced operating costs (which helps keep long term tenants), and durability requiring less maintenance than other framing assemblies. In terms of speed of construction SIPS ensured that all wall were straight which helped us when laying out all other walls. Additionally sips allows for us to quickly build the exterior walls. We were able to finish the roof panels in two days! The project was completed in about 14 months and was actually under budget, even while facing some very difficult supply chain problems.
Innovative Design Elements: With decades of experience working with SIPS we now are able to optimize the design to take advantage of SIP benefits (larger panels, longer spans) which reduces our costs and increases building structural integrity.
Energy Use Intensity: No real data for this yet but our 3 bedroom units are about $50 to heat and cool per month (in the CO winter), which is great for 1300 sq ft.
HVAC: Individual dwelling unit, high performing mini-split systems. Given our efficiency we saw in our previous buildings, mini splits allowed us to remove gas entirely from the project.

- ICFs used for below grade foundation
- Fully electric building
- We also used efficient windows in the design
- Our building also has capability for car chargers, which we have allocated space for 6 car charging ports in the future
- Low emitting LED lighting
- On demand hot water
- All electric - no gas
