Project Overview
A replacement for an existing 1950's era school complex, the new Fairfield Elementary School in Eugene, Oregon was built on the existing play area while school was still in session. With students on campus learning, the project required careful planning, phasing, and coordination. SIPs helped make sure the building envelope was not just strong and energy efficient, but installed extremely fast (compared to stick framed assemblies), to ensure minimal disruption of learning.
Strongly residential in nature, as requested by the community and to complement adjacent houses, the school is designed for LEED Silver environmental standards and the building can serve up to 600 students. The new school includes 52,746 sf of space including classrooms, a library, gymnasium,. cafeteria, stage, computer lab and administrative offices.
